Shivaram Poudel

About

Shivaram Poudel from Chitwan is a socially responsible and action-oriented individual who believes in creating impact through grassroots efforts. Deeply concerned about public hygiene and female safety, he has taken bold steps to address a pressing need in Nepal — the lack of accessible and clean public toilets. Without waiting for government support, Shivaram has personally invested in improving sanitation infrastructure, driven by compassion and a strong sense of civic duty.

Business

Shivaram Poudel’s idea is to establish clean and accessible public toilets across Nepal, with a special focus on female privacy and hygiene. He has already constructed two public toilets—one in Dhading and another in Chitwan—by investing Rs. 18 lakh from his own savings. His model is both socially impactful and economically sustainable. To cover operational costs and generate income, he has set up a small store beside the toilet, along with a fruit shop for vegetarians, and a local snack stall offering items like pakauda, chana, anda, and chiya served in eco-friendly tapara made from saal ko paat. Shivaram’s idea not only addresses a basic public need but also promotes cleanliness, women’s dignity, local employment, and environmental sustainability.
